iTunes player is required to perform this test.

Determining if your MP3 file is compliant.

  1. Right click the song in list, select [Get Info]. Fig. 1
  2. Under the [Summary] tab, find Bit Rate. If the value is appended with "(VBR)", you will need to re-encode the MP3. Fig. 2
  3. Under the [Summary] tab, find ID3 Tag. If the value is "v2" or above, you will need to convert the ID3 tags. Fig. 2

Re-encode the MP3

  1. Select [Edit], then [Preferences].
  2. Then select the tab labeled [Advanced].
  3. Now select the tab labeled [Importing]. Fig. 3
  4. Using the drop down menu next to the heading: [Import Using], select the setting encoding option that says, [MP3 Encoder].
  5. The next drop down menu below next to the heading: [Setting], change [Automatic] to say [Custom]. A pop-up window will display.
    1. In the pop-up window under [Stereo Bitrate], choose [192 kpbs].
    2. Uncheck [Use Variable Bitrate Encoding (VBR)]. Fig. 4
  6. On main screen, right-click the song in list, select [Convert Selection to MP3].
  7. Note: This will create a new file, the original file will be left unaltered. Fig. 5

Convert ID3 Tags

  1. Right-click song in list, select [Convert ID3 Tags].
  2. Ensure [ID3 tag version] box is checked. Fig. 6
  3. Select [v1.1] from dropdown and click [OK].
  4. Note: This will alter the existing file, if you wish to maintain current ID3v2.x tags, create a copy of the MP3 before performing these steps.

The MP3 file will now conform to Clear Channel standards for ideal streaming quality. Fig. 7
